“La microbeca que se recibió por parte de PROARTES México, nos ayudó a cubrir los gastos para llevar a cabo una residencia de creación e investigación escénica en Arboretrum, un espacio entre montañas, árboles, ríos, naturaleza y silencios. Poder estar en un lugar de tiempo completo, con todas las condiciones y necesidades, donde puedas decantar ese imaginario a nivel cuerpo, emoción y lenguaje; construir un universo escénico. La residencia permitió, construir una escaleta de trabajo y posteriormente un guion con una dramaturgia más definida y clara, la cual se ha ido puliendo y trabajando hasta el momento. De manera personal, considero que, dicha residencia fue un parte aguas en el desarrollo del proyecto C19.”
El 10 de agosto de 2023 publicamos la convocatoria de propuestas para nuestra primera microbeca. Este nuevo programa fue creado en correspondencia con uno de los principales objetivos de nuestra organización: promover oportunidades y apoyo a artistas. Estamos muy agradecidxs con todxs lxs solicitantes que invirtieron su tiempo en enviar materiales. Disfrutamos mucho aprendiendo sobre todos los proyectos presentados. Y aunque nuestra decisión no fue fácil, lxs aplicantes dejaron en claro que lxs artistas son el hilo y el tejido que mantienen unido nuestro mundo y fomentan nuestro bienestar colectivo.
Después de una cuidadosa consideración, seleccionamos la solicitud de Miliun Pasos presentada por Emmanuel Fragoso. La financiación de microbeca se destinará a gastos relacionados con su próxima residencia en Artboretum. Durante su residencia trabajarán en una nueva pieza interdisciplinaria titulada C19. Este trabajo experimental profundizará en las realidades y horrores vividos por lxs trabajadores de apoyo médico que fueron invisibles durante el apogeo de la pandemia de COVID 19. C19 se destacó para nosotrxs como un proyecto que no rehuye nuestra “fatiga pandémica” colectiva y continúa reflexionando sobre el trauma global compartido y hace homenaje a aquellxs trabajadorxs que hicieron lo necesario para que los sistemas de salud siguieran funcionando.

“The microgrant received from PROARTES México helped us cover the expenses to carry out a scenic creation and research residency in the Arboretrum, a space between mountains, trees, rivers, nature and silence. Being able to be in a place full time, with all the conditions and needs, where you can decant that imaginary at the level of body, emotion and language; build a scenic universe. The residency allowed us to build an outline and later a script with a more defined and clear dramaturgy, which has been polished and worked on until now. Personally, I consider that this residence was a turning point in the development of the C19 project.”
On August 10, 2023 we published the request for proposals for our first microbeca. This new program was created in correspondence with one of the main objectives of our organization, to promote opportunities and support for artists. We are very grateful to all of the applicants who invested their time in sending materials. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about all of the projects submitted. And while our decision was not easy, the applicants made it clear that artists are the fabric holding our world together and fostering our collective wellbeing.
After careful consideration we selected Miliun Pasos’ application submitted by Emmanuel Fragoso. The microbeca funding will go towards expenses related to their upcoming residency at Artboretum. During their residency they will be further developing a new interdisciplinary performance entitled C19. This experimental work will delve into the realities and horrors lived by the medical support workers that were invisible throughout the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. C19 stood out to us as a project not shying away from our collective ‘pandemic fatigue’ and instead is continuing to confront our shared global trauma and honor the many workers that accomplished the labor required for our healthcare systems to continue functioning.
